CPX 2025
This week, the CPX2025 EMEA took place in Vienna. A great event to discover new features. Speak and listen to a lot of interesting people. A big thanks to Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. to organize this nice event.
Hyperconnected and AI
We had nice presentations of the Hyperconnected World with all kind of technologies. From Endpoints and on-premise resources to datacenter and (Public) cloud solutions. Today’s engineers are struggling to build and maintain the big complexity for all different platforms and policies. Check Point introduced the ‘AI-Powered Security Management for the Hyperconnected World’. This provides you a unified policy for all kind of different Check Point solutions (Harmony, Quantum and Cloudguard) to secure your environment and data.
A lot of technologies are powered by or running on AI. Think about the Infinity AI Copilot, CloudGuard WAF and Infinity AIOps.
Future features (Roadmaps)
The new technologies VSnext and ElasticXL in R82 will be have great new features this year.
VSnext
Currently R82 adds the new Virtualization Technology VSnext to replace the VSX technology. This provides simpler administration, multiple Management Domain Servers vs. a Single (Multi-) Domain Server. It allows you also the create 8 times faster provisioning of a new Virtual System (Firewall or Switch). Besides that also API’s and monitoring are like normal Quantum Gateways.
This year a Migration Tool from VSX will be provided so you can upgrade from your current VSX environment to the new R82 VSnext technology.
ElasticXL
Like VSnext, the new ElasticXL technology allows you to use a more simple setup of your Quantum Gateways and add features from Maestro. This gives you for example configuration sync between cluster members.
This year Check Point will add a migration tool to migrate your current ClusterXL cluster to a ElasticXL cluster. Besides that will give you the option to add a different gateway type to the cluster. This allows you a simple and faster hardware upgrade or replacement without downtime.
Operations
The daily operations will be easier. Think about:
- Centralized management for Configuration Management. All configuration files into CLI and WebUI
- Troubleshooting via the Gateway’s WebUI.
- Faster and easier upgrades. Silent and efficient on the background.
SmartConsole
Site to Site Route Based VPN configuration will be available via SmartConsole. Also the posibility to configure multiple Remote Access Communities within one Domain.
Also the SmartConsole WebUI will get the primary management console. It wil get the following options:
- Managing Gateways and VPN’s
- Sessions, Workflows and Packages
- HTTPS Policy and Data Center Controller
- Updatable Objects
The Policy Auditor will be part of the R81.20 and R82.x releases this year. It will help you align the Security Policies with the Security Guidelines by highlighting them.
